Engagement Photos with the Kansas City Skyline – Dakota + Jake

February is one of the coldest months in the midwest, but every so often there’s a relief from frigid temps leading to a beautiful 60 degree weekend. Dakota and Jake clearly have fate on their side when it comes to their love. Not only with the weather, but from the minute they first locked eyes from across the room at a party they have had an undeniable connection (total Rom-Com moment right?!). Dakota and Jake for sure wanted their engagement photos with the Kansas City Skyline behind them.

The movie worthy moments continued when Jake surprised Dakota with a ring and a proposal on the steps of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC. They love to travel to new places together but KC will always be home. These two will be tying the knot this October at The Oliver Building in Kansas City.

Dakota and Jake wanted to capture the essence of their city in their engagement photos, yasss KC BABY. The rooftop of the parking garage gave us a stunning cityscape background while the golden rays gently kissed the tops of each building on the horizon. The spacious parking garage doubled as a race track which was key for Jake’s young boys. They dashed form corner to corner while Dad and Koko got their photos taken.

This family has such a contagious energy they filled this session with fun. As the boys ran around their adorable laughs transferred into sweet smiles between Dakota and Jake. In between photos we would break for quick races to the car and glances at the train over the ledge. As the sun’s rays began to disappear Jake popped the bottle of champagne. While the cork flew through the air the excitement echoed across the pavement. Engagement photos with the Kansas City skyline and an amazing family bond it really made for an unforgettable evening. If it was a part of a movie it would have made for the perfect ending scene.
