Meet Caryn + Ryan! This sweet couple tied the knot in March of 2022 at Magnolia Venue and Urban Garden in downtown Kansas City. Their special day was absolutely STUNNING at their timeless venue, filled with their soft color palette of dusty blue and white, and streamers for all their guests to celebrate with!
Caryn + Ryan’s photos also turned out picture-perfect in their timeless venue!
Magnolia Events is situated in downtown Kansas City and boasts two stunning venues. The Magnolia Venue & Urban Garden (where Caryn + Ryan said “I do”) can accommodate up to 250 guests for both an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. The rustic style and outdoor string lights at this location make it seriously a magical space for any couple!
The second venue option owned by Magnolia Events is Magnolia Brookside! This venue is located close to the Plaza and features a lovely mid-century modern indoor space as well as a large urban garden. Both make the perfect space for a charming ceremony or reception and can host between 160 and 200 guests.
Magnolia Events also offer a wide variety of event packages for weddings. From event planning services to floral designs or decor rentals, the team at Magnolia is dedicated to bringing your wedding day dreams to life.

Downtown Kansas City is the vibrant and charming hub of the city! With the timeless brick buildings and something new to do around every corner, downtown Kansas City makes for the perfect place to take wedding photos. I’ve compiled a list of the best photo spots in Kansas City.
These locations are just a short walk away for any couple getting married at one of the Magnolia Events venues OR other downtown KC wedding venues! Kansas City wedding photographers and couples, listen up!
First on the list for wedding photo spots in Kansas City has to be the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art! This classic photo op is conveniently located close to the plaza– only 10 minutes from downtown and 5 minutes from Loose Park. The impressive architecture complete with stretching columns, giant doors, a grand staircase, and well kept outdoor area is an ideal backdrop for wedding photos.
I have absolutely adored every shoot I’ve gotten to do at Nelson-Atkins; check out this engagement session for more inspo & pics!
Another incredible outdoor photo location in KC is Loose Park! Just 5 minutes from Nelson-Atkins, this stunning garden is filled with lots of tall, old trees and green grass all through the warmer months. The arching bridge over the pond and the small fountain give this park a classy feel that is perfectly timeless for wedding photos!
And if you’re planning your wedding for springtime, check out the rose garden at Loose Park to see the incredible blooms.
I got engaged in Loose Park, so you know it’s a super romantic spot. :)
Another wedding photo spot close to downtown Kansas City is the World War One Memorial. This location is iconic for its view of all of downtown and Union Station (very classic KC vibes). Walking around the memorial you’ll find sleek steps up to the viewpoint, as well as a few trees and clean-cut grass. The neutrality of this space means you can match it to whatever your style is for your wedding photos!
To get more inspo from a proposal shoot at the memorial check out some photos here!
For an ICONIC downtown Kansas City wedding photo spot, you have to check out Union Station! Once again conveniently located close to the WW1 Memorial and downtown KC, Union Station offers the perfect old-timey vintage vibes for the background of your photos.
Do note that you have to purchase a photography pass for wedding photos if you’re going to shoot inside Union Station, but it’s well worth it! Photography passes are about $75 and can be purchased here.
If you’re my client, a photo pass is something I’ll take care of for you before our shoot!!
For a unique spot to take your wedding photos in downtown KC, head down to the riverfront! The nicely paved sidewalks lined with streetlamps along the river make it the perfect place for a little walk with your new spouse! The riverfront is right next to the River Market and only a 5-minute drive from the Magnolia Venue & Urban Garden. Not to mention the view of the Christopher S Bond bridge over the river makes for a beautiful backdrop if you want an outdoor vibe for your wedding photos!
Congrats again to Caryn + Ryan!!!
