The Mission Theater created such a unique backdrop for their wedding day. The vintage exterior gave the celebration so much character, especially with the custom marquee featuring their names and wedding date. Guests were also welcomed with a creative newspaper-inspired sign that made the entire day feel even more personal.
One of my favorite parts of the day was how connected everyone felt. Caleb spent the morning laughing with his groomsmen outside the theater, while Rylee shared sweet moments with her bridesmaids before the ceremony began. Their soft spring color palette paired beautifully with the bright sunshine and historic venue details.
The couple also incorporated vintage family wedding photographs into their day, which added such a sentimental touch. It was a beautiful reminder that their wedding was part of a much bigger love story.
Meanwhile, the downtown setting gave us so many fun portrait opportunities. Between the art deco details of the theater and the warm spring light, every corner photographed beautifully. Most importantly, Rylee and Caleb stayed fully present with each other throughout the day, which made every photograph feel genuine and emotional.

There’s something magical about a spring wedding at The Venue in Leawood. Fresh blooms, soft light, and love in full bloom created the perfect backdrop for Ben and Sarah’s unforgettable celebration.
After months of planning, the day felt like a dream come true for the couple. Sarah shared that slipping into her wedding dress with her mom and sister was the moment it all felt real. She was officially the bride! Ben’s realization came later, just after the ceremony, when they were finally alone together, married at last, savoring a few quiet moments before the party.
The Venue offered everything they could have hoped for in a wedding space. Sarah loved the convenience of hosting the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one place. The complete food and bar service was a huge perk! Ben admired the modern yet formal style of the reception hall, which looked stunning when filled with their loved ones.
When asked what their favorite part of the day was, both Ben and Sarah agreed that, above all, being surrounded by friends and family who traveled from near and far was the best. Guests they hadn’t seen in years came together to celebrate, making the evening feel even more meaningful.
One of the most memorable details was their private first look and letter exchange. Choosing to keep their vows personal, they poured their hearts into handwritten letters. The tears, the smiles, and the moment they saw each other for the first time set the tone for an incredibly heartfelt day.
Later, their first dance to “When I See You, I See Home” by Tyler Hilton brought everything full circle. After dancing to it on their very first Valentine’s Day together, they knew it would make the perfect soundtrack for their forever.
