Sara and Jacob had the most amazing summer wedding at Weathered Wisdom Barn in Preston, MO. This rustic venue sits atop stunning rolling hills which make for the perfect backdrop for a wedding ceremony.

Not a cloud in the sky on this beautiful August day. The antique string lights lit up the aisle just like Jacob’s eyes when he first saw Sara walking towards him.

Weathered Wisdom Barn was the perfect setting for this summer wedding. The large glass windows give a feeling of being outside with the hills all while keeping cool in the air conditioning (especially on those humid August days!) As the sun began to set the orange hues snuck in the window and filled the room with a warm glow. Which helped transition the day into reception time!

Sara and Jacob were ready to start their new lives as a married couple. They had many strong relationships around them that set a wonderful example of what true love really means.

Sara and Jacob wanted to honor all of these incredible relationships in a special way during their reception. Instead of having a dollar dance, the opted for an Anniversary Dance. All of their married friends and relatives headed on to the dance floor while the DJ played a classic slow song. As the music filled the barn the DJ would pause every so often and ask for couples that have only been married for a certain amount of time to leave the dance floor. It began with “less than 6 months”, then “less than a year”, the DJ kept adding on years until there was only one couple left.

Sara and Jacob stayed on the dance floor the entire time so that they could share a dance with the couple that had been married the longest. Little did they know that couple would be Sara’s grandparents. Sara’s grandmother gave her the biggest hug and congratulated her again on her wedding day.

I’ve been to a lot of weddings over these last couple of years, the Anniversary Dance always sticks out to me. It’s such a great way to acknowledge all of the couples in your life that have made an impact on your relationship. Celebrating everyones lasting marriages.

Now that I’ve moved to the Kansas City area I am looking forward to photographing at all of the rustic barn venues in the KC area.
